Bottle Stencil Series

The First of the Bottle Stencils
This is where my use of wine and liquor bottles as stencils began.

Morey St. Denis 1st Cru La Riotte
Many of us deeply enjoy wines and liquors and we are particular about which ones are for us. I think this can give viewers a personal connection to the artwork if its one of their favorites.

Tyler Pinot Noir
I am exploring color, mark making, and texture through spraypainting. I learned from the first artwork that I want the viewer to be able to more easily read the label, their experience of the wine will give the artwork a more personal connection.

Coeur de Rose Prestige
Where the last two drip paintings were inspired from Japanese Sumi-e painting, this one has more of a connection with the actual form of the bottle.
I switched from watered down acrylic to a white latex house paint for a smoother texture. I saw it defining form more than suggesting it.

Bourgogne Chardonnay
Not all bottles call for drip painting. Sometimes the negative space left by the bottle came out so well defined that I don’t want to alter them.

The Process...
These works have been a lot of fun to create as well.

I enjoy using spray paint. For me its great to see how I can get the colors to overlap and sit together as well as come out of the can at different densities for rich texture effects.

I have to lend my initial inspiration in this medium to diverse world of Street Art.

The bottles become works of art in themselves.
If a patron purchases an artwork locally then I offer to deliver the canvas to them and bring the bottle used to create it as well.

Shot from The Studio
I made this initial series while listening to Jackson Whalan’s Hip Hop Medicine USB key. For me this artist is eloquent, relevant, and uses smooth and engaging beats. Check him out, I have been enjoying the music.

Blanton's Bourbon
This great quality bourbon has such a unique bottle shape. I had to use a smaller canvas so the composition would work well.

In Process Shots...

Spray paint as a medium offers such great texture and layering of colors.

Titos Vodka I
This Texan craft batch vodka is loved by many drinkers at the restaurant I serve in.

Close Up of Titos
I am so pleased with how the image of the bottle came out and how the spiral gesso I did on the canvas pulls through.

This is how they all start…

Double Bottles of Burgundy
I am pleased to showcase these two amazing Burgundy bottles on one canvas. I think the longer narrow format of the canvas works with using two bottles.

Domaine Robert Chevillon and Domaine Paul Pernot are sought after producers that sell well on the Cafe Adam menu.
