Plant Stencil Series

Arborvitae I
I feel these new plant stencils are the next evolution of my working w/ spray paint.

There are subtle shifts when spraying the plants that can be a bit directed but not fully controlled.

Queen Anne's Lace I
Working with organic material offers more variance in the medium for me.

As the varying parts to the plants have different give under the spray it alters the results.

Goldenrod I
I am in love with how these paintings offer moments of crisp detail along w/ moments of impressionism.

Arboritae II
I went for the warmer color palette on this one.

You truly cannot exactly know how it will look until you take the plant off.

This branch gave resistance against flattening on the canvas.

I'm throwing in a selfie.

Sumac I
I went with the bolder, high contrast, dynamic composition on this one.

I’ve found flattening plants helps define edgework.

Pine I
I made this to have new art to hang by the Christmas tree in 2019.

Pine II
I love the sharp definition balanced by softer areas.

Fall Foliage I
I had to go there.

Fall Foliage II
I was aiming for the layer of warmth to pull that leaf imagery through the darkness.

All those little rocks are helping me out.
